Dr. Charlie Metcalf is a faithful leader. His PhD in leadership is coupled with 20+ years of leadership experience in the field. “Being a Servant Leader, has always been part of my DNA. Throughout my life I have sought to serve those around me.” His leadership experience includes: co-chair for SPLOST VI campaign (Securing 80 million dollars for Troup County, Lagrange, Hogansville, and West Point residents), President of The Friends of The Thread (local 501(c)3 dedicated to building and beautifully maintaining a trail system in LaGrange, GA), and 24 years of church leadership experience (19 of those at Clearview Chapel in LaGrange, GA).
Dr. Charlie has the heart of a teacher. Whether it is speaking at a conference, leading leadership seminars, or consulting with business/nonprofits his approach always involves teaching. Parker Palmer observes, “Teaching and learning are critical to our individual and collective survival and to the quality of our lives.” Change for the better comes with better information and learning to integrate that information into our daily lives.
Dr. Charlie is an encourager. His positive outlook on life tends to be infectious and he is always generous with his praise of others. “I tend to view my encouragement to others as a God given gift that I have freely received and then honed to increase its impact on others.” One of Charlie’s favorite quotes when it comes to encouragement comes from Dale Carnegie, “I have yet to find a person, however exalted her/his station, who did not do better work and put forth greater effort under a spirit of approval than under a spirit of criticism.”
